As someone born into a family of educators and small business owners, I, Sule Konata Welch, have always believed in leading an active, health-conscious life. We prioritized activity-based learning and healthy food choices long before plant-based diets were popular. My upbringing, filled with cooking sessions, indoor and outdoor play, and weightlifting, helped shape my passion for fitness and teaching. My journey led me to earn multiple teaching certifications under esteemed martial arts experts: Hapkido with Master John K. Thomas, Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu Francis Fong, Filipino Martial Art & Jeet Kune Do with Guro Dan Inosanto, Capoeira with Mestre Muriel, Tai Chi with Dr. Paul Lam, and Boxe Francaise Savate with the late Professor Salem Assli. These certifications have enabled me to develop unique fitness programs, like "Martial Fitness®" and "Capoeira for Active Adults," which have inspired countless individuals to fight for their health.
At The Welch Center, my wife Cecily and I aim to create a space where entrepreneurship and wellness thrive. Both raised by entrepreneurial parents and sharing a legacy of education and business ownership dating back to the 19th century, we understand the significance of supporting our community. Our vision for The Welch Center is to offer an inclusive environment for growth, where individuals can empower themselves through knowledge, wellness, and community involvement. "Wellness Equals Lasting Capital and Health" reflects our goal of fostering a holistic approach to well-being that extends beyond physical fitness to create a strong, supportive network for all.
